Giant Top Knot with Side Swoop |
Day 1: Why did I choose to straighten my hair on the only 90+ degree day in mid September. The low temp two days prior was 49. I was hot. I was sweaty. I felt like I had too much hair. It was not fun. My hair ended up in a bun. My straight hair is out to get me.
Day 2: I slept, not so comfortably in 6 flexi-rods to throw some curls in the mix. Loved the curls---hated the the way that my hair rubbed on my shoulders the next day. I had a major freak out while walking down the street with the wind blowing my hair about. I just knew that there was a spider crawling on me. My neighbor saw the whole thing. *shame face* My hair ended up in a bun. My straight hair is out to get me.
Day 3: "Wow! I love your hair. <whispers> Is that your yours? Is it a wig or a weave?" Really tho? *le sigh* ---Yes it's real. It is really growing out of my scalp. This is a very awkward conversation. You've known me since I was in diapers. My straight hair is out to get me.
Day 4: My ponytail got caught on the clothing hook in my car while I was buckling my kid's car seat. Even a pony can't save me. My straight hair is out to get me.
Day 5: Whilst shopping, my hair got caught in my purse strap on the right and then in my reuseable grocery bags on the left. My straight hair is out to get me.
Day 6: Grr... I blew a bubble and my gum got a hair in it. Soooo gross. My straight hair is out to get me.
I love my straight hair, but I'm totally over it! I'm bunning until wash day! Flowly hair is fun for a little while---I'm just not sure that it's me anymore.
What's your fave? Sleek and Straight or Big and Bad?
Un mil besitos!

I concur, your straight hair is definitely out to get you! lol. Well at least you can say that you tried!
ReplyDeleteIts a conspiracy I tell you!!! Ha-ha!
DeleteVery funny post! I guess its back to big bad curly hair and buns
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am!!! Ain't no body got time for all this nonsense!
DeleteSo funny! I actually flatironed my hair 2 weeks ago and found that wearing my hair straight sucked. Before my hj, it was all about straight hair but now I find that I want the thickness and wildness that airdrying or even just blow drying gives me. My hair is fine so I need the body airdrying gives me.
ReplyDeleteAmen Amija! Pre-hj---air drying was an accident immediately corrected by flat ironing at 400+. Smh. I can't even imagine doing that today!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Haha! Great post, straight hair is only good for one day, after that it needs to go back in a bun. When I think about it straight hair is such a hassle. It's all about that #bunlife!
ReplyDelete#bunlife 4 life!
DeleteBuns are just easier!! Although, I won't complain about the ease of finger detangling my straight hair. Ha-ha!
Girl you speak the truth! That's why I hardly wear my hair down, it's waaaay to hassling!
ReplyDeleteI felt so fussy with my hair down and it didn't help that my kids wanted to be all up in it. My daughter called herself "fixing up" my hair. I thought to myself---I surely hope that this isn't how rough she feels that I am with her hair! Ha-ha! If she was a stylist---I wouldn't have a strand of hair left!
DeleteYour post is so funny and I can understand how you feel I love big hair myself, straight hair really gets in the way sometimes. I am in love with your hair in that picture, do you have a tutorial by any chance?
ReplyDeleteAsk and you shall receive! I have a tutorial coming down the pipeline!
DeleteBelieve it or not---but that bun is courtesy of a banana clip!
Hey Doll! Here's a tutorial on how I got that this giant Top Knot: Get More Bang for Your Banana...Clip Thanks for asking!
DeleteHahahaha this is one funny post made my day!
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad that I could help Lydz!
DeleteThis just made me LOL! The last time my hair was straight I had so many similar experiences that made me roll my eyes. Never would've guessed this whole growing long, healthy hair process would cause me to fall in love with my big hair :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I barely recognized myself after so many months of big air dried hair.
DeleteLol~I agree with you. People always ask me why don't you wear your hair down. They don't understand that even though I love it, sometimes it gets in the way. I think I'm so used to having it up now :-)
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends called me the Queen of Updos---because I almost always have my hair up and out of the way. I told her---ain't no body got time to be foolin' with this Simba mane!
DeleteThis was hilarious!

Ha-ha! Thanks Chantelle!
DeleteLMAO!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo true though!
Straight hair is nice but there are so many things shrinkage prevents like getting your hair caught in between your shoulder and handbag!
Britt @ One&20
Exactly Britt! Before the start of my hhj, allllll I wanted was for my bangs to touch my shoulders---now I cringe at the thought. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one!
DeleteI never thought that people would ask me if my natural hair was my own, but they still do. I twisted my hair the other day and a few ladies at work asked me if it was all mine.
ReplyDeleteP.S: I love your hair.
I think that la gente is amazed by the verstiality of our hair---straight one day, twisted the next, in a giant top knot on Monday, working big bad curls by Friday. I guess that its too hard to believe that it's real---and wonderful!
DeleteI didn't forget about our joint Taliah Waajid Giveaway---hit me up so that we can chat!
Hahaha cute post! I love me some straight hair but sometimes curly hair or even a bun is easier and more functional.

I really thought that I was allll that when I first walked out of the door with my hair swinging. Then I got put in check with by the humidity and by the time that I got to my destination, I was drenched in sweat. SMH. I really wished that I had bunned that day. Ha-ha!
