Mini Wash {Keyda}

Leave-ins
Hola Chicas!

So, I have decided to go ahead with getting a touch up either the end of this week or early next week before my Hawaii trip! I knowww .... I had all of the hopes/dreams hehe to last till the first two weeks of Jan... but I want to be FLOWING in Hawaii and I do not want much hassle with my hair! So, I shall share the pics of my length check soon! :)

(1) Detangled my hair with my magic star jumbo rake seamless comb.

(2) Extreme Deep Conditioner: Coffee Oil/Philip Kingsley Toner/ JBCO/ My essential oil on my scalp. AS I AM Hydration Elation on length of my hair with focus on my roots. Chi Deep Brilliance Reconstruct Deep Protein Reconstructor on ends of my hair. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil all over my hair to seal it all in.

(3) Heated my hair for about 1 1/2 hour with the Gold N Hot Conidtioning Cap.
(4) Rinsed with ApHogee Balancing Moisturizerr but no tea rinse today.

(5) Leave-ins: After about 80% air dried, sprayed with Nexxus Hydralight Weightless Root Lift Spray and (new!) Fructis Intensly Smooth Conditioning Cream. (Luvss the smell)

Results: My hair was sooooooooooo soft! :) I always aim for softness with my hair because it has the tendency to be DRY if not mindful. However, my scalp also felt very clean and moisturized as well. I will be reviewing the coffee oil this week! I decided to braid my hair while it was about 95% dry into "Crown Braid". It is still holding up :) I will unbraid it probably mid week. I am thinking about touching up at home rather than salon but we shall see!

How was your wash day!? Think I'm getting a touch-up too soon!?

Mini Wash Day -- Pool Hair, 6/7 weeks post

Hola Chicas!

It has only been two weeks of summer camp...and I feel like it has been a month! lol Well, I have not actually been in the pool too much this past week but here is an update on what I have done mid-week, and my most recent wash!

Pool day: I actually massaged a bit of Nexxus Hydralight Conditioner in my hair and pinned it up. After reading KLP's post, I plan on buying/trying Herbal Essences Hello Hydration! After swimming, I was running around with kids lol so my hair dried simply then I ran to shower to rinse my hair. Cowash...Cowash!! I just do not think my hair would survive if I didnt after swimming so frequently! .. Mid-week..I clarified with KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo...
Whole lotta New Growth!
Current Wash!

(1) Detangled with my fingers...I had some knots at my roots :/ soo I had to be gentle...Then I combed through with my Magic Star Jumbo Rake!

(2) Prepoo with my essential oil mix on my scalp, Matrix Biolage Hydration Conditioning Balm and CHI Deep Brillance Moisture on my length...I ran out of EVOO for my mix soo I actually put some extra virgin grapeseed oil in my mix (as a carrier)....WOW...I felt soooo much more tingling...and my scalp was sooooooooooooooo just whoa after the wash...pretty sure it is por que grapeseed oil is sooo light! I shall continue to experiment! :)

(3) Protien Treatment with Aphogee 2 step protien treatment... I realized I have not done a protien treatment in a while...but I do not personally like to keep it super long in my hair...soo I kept it in for about 2-5mins...

(3) Moisture Recovery Roux treatment for roughly 15-20mins (while I got sooo fresh n clean lol)

Back with a bow :)
(4) Tea Rinse with my fave tea! CC's Chamomile & Lavendar Tea! I shall be purchasing another batch of tea soon from CC's because mine is coming to an end :(

(5) Smoothed my hair with my last lil bit of Emergencia Intensive Moisture Split Ends Conditioner!

Leave-ins were Nexxus Hydralight Moisture Root Lift Mist, Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea and CHI silk infusion!

Side: Braids pulled to bun
My Hair Reality: I did some unique/different lol things this wash...but I loved it...My hair was manageable..and I was in love with my scalp! I decided to braid up my hair into SOMETHING lol...I have no clue..but me n my bro were late for "The Heat"! AWESOME MOVIE...any way..I ended up with a braidout for the week ...It started off strong Sunday but lol...my hair is not loving this humidity or rain...those in DMV area... I decided to do big twists (like french braid almost) for the night with satin roller on my ends for the night...Had beach waves :) hehe kinda...for the day... I will prob do some bantu knots ...idk..imma get it!

KLP has been rocking her curls...quite lovely! I gotta get on that level! lol

How are your braidouts!? Bantu Knots!?

Muahz!

Wash Day

Have you ever had one of those wash days that just felt like it just wouldn't end?

Ugh...I felt like I've been washing my hair for days. Saturday, I went to moisturize and detangle my hair, and realized that there was no coming back from my dry roots. It wouldn't matter how much I  L.O.C'd with Tea Spray, Argan oil, and Herbal Essences Touchably Smooth Split End Protector, my hair needed to be washed. So I gently detangled, added some Nexxus Hydra-Light Conditioner, then hopped into the shower to rinse. Yeah---that didn't help at all. I had no choice but to move on. I applied a big dollop of Nexxus Hydra-Light Foaming Leave In quickly tshirt dried hair. Yeah---that just made it worse. I let it air dry, took some time to compose myself, then tried to detangle adding in HETSSEP. That helped a little. All I could do was throw it up into a Minute to Win it Style and pray that my hair didn't look as bad as it felt. (Gracias a Dios por Minute to Win it Styles!) When I went to wash, I just prayed that I wouldn't have glops and loodies of long strand breakage and shedding. I was lucky this time---but I needed to nip all this dryness in the bud and get back to my stretching basic techniques.

(0) Detangled- in vertical sections with my magic rake.
(1) Pre-poo- with an essential oil blend on my scalp and extra virgin coconut oil on the length of my hair. I let the pre-poo soak in for about 30 minutes.
(2) Shampoo- I lathered twice with Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating Shampoo in sections concentrating the shampoo on my roots.
(3) Tea Rinse- To thwart breakage, I used 2 black tea bags steeped in 2 cups of water for my tea rinse. I applied with a narrow tip applicator and let it hang out in my hair for 5 minutes.
(4) Smoothing Treatment- Next, I rinsed the tea out and applied Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment (I reversed the order of my tea rinse and deep condition this wash) I really do love this treatment. I'm on a no buy strike for a few months but I'm running out! Eek!
(5) Extreme Deep Condition- My hair absolutely needed a long soak in some conditioner. I added a mix Halka Baba de Caracol and Roux Porosity Control Conditioner to my hair, and then coated my strands in extra virgin coconut oil. I deep conditioned for hours under my heating cap. During my final rinse, my hair still didn't feel as moisturized as it usually does after a mini wash, but it was much much better than Saturday's mass of tangles!
(6) Air Dry- 100%
(7) Leave ins- Detangled using the 2 comb method and then added It's a 10 Miracle Leave in and Chi Silk Infusion

Results:
Big fluffy air dried hair! After 2 days of jumping in and out of the shower, deep conditioning forever, and detangling 10-15 SSKs---my happy hair is back. I kicked L.O.C'ing aside this week to give myself some time to think about why my roots were so dry to begin with. Last week's tea spray was 1 green tea and 1 peach ginger tea bag. Maybe peach ginger tea doesn't like my hair. I also used Herbal Essences Touchably Smooth Split End Protector to seal instead of Jessicurl's Too Shea Conditioner. Maybe Age in ATL from Loving MY Hair
was right. That stuff is great when your deep in a stretch.

I'm so happy that this wash day is over. Now back to The Bun Effect! 10 more days; I hope that I can make it!

Was your wash day as long and drawn out as mine?
Un mil besitos!

Wash Day

Notes: Hello hydration! My hair was incredibly soft and smooth all week. Even after daily drenching workouts, my roots and edges were in pretty good shape for 7 weeks post relaxer.

(0) Detangled with my Magic Star Jumbo Rake. Today, off a whim, I detangled in vertical sections instead of horizontal. I'm not sure if it matters, but I was 95% tangle free by the time that I went to roller set. I thnk that I'll give that method another try next wash day.
(1) (Protein Power) Pre-poo with Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner, my essential oil blend, Mizani Renew Strength Reconstructing Masque, and Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Instant Recovery Mask. Covered with a warm towel for a little steam session then plastic cap and sat under the hooded dryer for about 30 minutes.
(2) Shampooed with Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Hydrating Shampoo
(3) Green Tea Rinse with 2 tea bags and 2 cups of water
(4) Smoothing Treatment- massaged Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment into my hair and let sit for about 5 minutes
(5) Extreme Deep Condition with Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm + a little more Argan Oil and then sat under the hooded dryer for an hour. I rinsed with cool water.
(6) Leave-ins- It's a 10 (without Keratin)+ Chi Silk Infusion
(7) Air dry- Partly then rolos
(8) Flat ironed my roots lightly

Results: This winter, my goal was to develop a formula to increase my hair's moisture and decrease the amount of shedding that I usually do in preparation for the spring and summer. Every spring, I shed like a mad man, so the more strands I save today, the better. I want my regimen to be proactive rather than reactive. I was so tempted to stop after rinsing out the smoothing treatment because my hair felt great. Smooth--check! Silky---check! Detangled---Check! But then I thought about my summer goals and I slapped on some more conditioner and popped a squat under the hooded dryer. I partly air dried today then roller set because I didn't want to use too much direct heat but I also wanted straight hair this upcoming week. Roller sets give me that option. The keys to a successful roller set is taut tension on the hair from the roller, smooth ends, ensuring that your hair is completely dry before removing the roller. I'd love to do more roller sets but its hard to find the time to sit under the dryer until my rolos are dry! I planned on taking tons of pics...then I forgot. Don't shoot me!

How was your wash day?

Too Relax....Or Not...

Hola Luvs

I have been thinking about relaxing my new growth sooner than later...I have stretched for 4 months (close to five) in the previous year /s. This is good but I think to retain my length/growth (from last year epic breakage situation :( ) I should probably relax sooner than later ...until my hair is ready/able to stretch again... I am at least 7 weeks post relaxer .. So, it would be now or later...

What are your thoughts? Think I should take the plunge or hold fast?

Thoughts and comments welcomed!

Wash Day - Goal twice a week met!

Hola Luvs!!

I actually completed a second wash day for the week, last sunday (sorry late post). I plan on washing twice a week, because my hair gets dry easily in winter..ugh..so I am hoping that if I wash twice a week, that will help some until early spring! (*fingers crossed*)

(1) Detangled: I used my fingers to detangle because I do not have my awesome comb that KLP, my partner in crime raves about! It was sold out for a month so I now finally get my hands on it!

(2) Pre-poo: I put heated argan oil (first time using from KLP) on my scalp, and Emergencia Intensive Coconut conditioner on length of my hair. I think my hair has a thing for coconut hehe... I put cap on and called it a day. My hooded dryer broke :( sooo I kept cap on for about 2 hours.

(3) Shampoo: I shampoo'ed with KeraCare 1st Lather Shampoo to make sure my hair was clean then (and because KLP awesomely gave me a new bottle lol) and then with PM Awapuhi Wild Ginger Moisturizing shampoo.. LUVSSS..Product Review to come...but I want the black line lol..

**Quick Protien Treatment with Aphogee 2 Min Reconstructor**
(4) DC: I put the awesome Halka Baba de Caracol Intensive Treatment in my hair. Again, no dryer...so I watched TV/ate over course of 2 1/2 hours...with a cap on my head...

(5) Washed out DC...and sooo smooth.. I could run my fingers thru...I used a 100% cotton t-shirt to pat out excess water.. idea from the lovely gal of www.justgrowalready.com! I combed thru once with my wide tooth (for now)

(6) Leave-ins..: Sprayed Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea , then I put my love..Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, mainly in the middle/back of my area (primary breakage spots) and some Skinny girl Serum (still trying it out) plus some Chi Silk Infusion (mainly on my ends).

Air dried for a few then before completely dried, I braided my hair and pinned it up too dry completely as I slept.. In morning..va laaa!.. I took them out and it looked soo cute.. (better than my first attempt last year lol)

**I will get better at posting pics...one strand at a time :) **

Now, I will have to restructure the braidout before my next wash.. Have you done a braid out? How did you style it after a day?

Wash Day

So, my goal is to wash consistently twice a week and then hopefully once my scalp stops being so dry I'll only have to wash once a week again. *fingers crossed*

(1) Pre-poo with scalp massage using a rosemary infused almond oil. (I definitely plan on making my own soon.) I warmed the oils to make the scalp massage double as an hot oil treatment. Then I used a mixture of Neutrogena Triple Moisture Conditioner and Creme of Nature Sweet Almond Conditioner on the length of my hair, covered with a plastic cap and let marinate for about 2 hours--Yummy!
(2) Shampooed with Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger Moisturizing Lather Shampoo. My new fave. It just makes my hair so soft!
(3) Deep Condition with Halka Baba de Caracol for a few hours. No heat this time; but maybe next time. Ha-ha!
(4) ACV Rinse- for the first time. I'll post more about my experience later. But let's just say the smell was awful and I swear that I could smell it for hours afterwards, even though everyone told me that they didn't smell anything.
(5) Leave-ins- Philip Kingsley Itchy/Flakey Toner on my scalp then ApHogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer and Skinny Girl Serum on the length of my hair.
(6) Light blow dry- I air dried a bit, detangled then decided to blow dry on low to help straighten out my roots more. I'm just not (yet) a fan of complete air drying unless I'm going to do a braid out.
(7) Flat ironed I feel like my hair is sleeker and it doesn't take as long to flat iron when I do a light blow dry.

I'm stocking up on some new goodies to test!

XOXO
