- Detangled- with my fingers and a very generous slathering of extra virgin coconut oil.
- Pre-Poo- with Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Toner followed by JBCO on my scalp. I caught up on some cleaning around the house for a few hours.
- Cleansing Cream (Shampoo)- I applied a generous amount of my DIY Co-cleansing cream to my tresses concentrating on the roots. I let it sit for 3-4 minutes then rinsed.
- Extreme Deep Condition- with Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm to my strands (root to tip), then massaged my strands in extra virgin coconut oil. I covered with a plastic cap, relaxed under my heat cap for about 2 hours, then left it in overnight.
- Aloe Black Tea Rinse- After rinsing the conditioner, I applied 1 part steeped black tea + 1 part aloe vera juice, using a narrow tip applicator to my strands--focusing on the roots. I let it sit for a few minutes then rinsed.
- Smoothing Treatment- with a large dollop of Matrix Biolage Detangling Solution.
- Air Dried- to 80-85% wrapped in a cotton t-shirt.
- Leave-Ins- Jessicurl Too Shea Extra Moisturizing Conditioner and Chi Silk Infusion.
Hello cleaning cream! Clean hair? Check. Not stripped? Check. Minimum tangles? Check. Have I found a way to use up all of my sub par bottles of shampoo? You betcha! This technique is here to stay. Whilst, I hate having to jump in and out of the shower, if my hair will benefit, then I could think of worst sacrifices to make.
Today's wash was a reminder of why oh why I love Matrix Ultra Hydrating Balm. My hair was so fluffy and moisturized. I feel like they made this one just for me and my 6 month post uber curly roots. Because my hair felt so soft, I opted for a black tea rinse and Chi Silk Infusion as a little protein breakage protection. I hear that over-moisturizing is real. Kinda like unicorns and leprechauns. I haven't seen it yet but I'm definitely not trying to either. Ha-ha! I faux banded my hair to stretch my roots. I'm back in the gym training for my next 5k so fluffy air dried buns are back!
Have you ever experienced over-moisturized hair?
Besitos!

ReplyDeleteI never intended on ending 2013 on a 6 month stretch but so far it hasn't been all bad!

I couldn't have dreamed of a better 6 month stretch (and counting). I'm not sure what I'd have to do to get my hair to be over-moisturized but I don't think that I want to find out. Haha!
DeleteI definitely experienced over-moisturized hair at the start of my hhj. I had never really " purposefully" done a regular protein treatment. My hair felt kind of gummy like and stretched when I ran a comb through my hair. which I knew was not normal. A quick protein session solved the problem. it's definitely better to have moisture overload than a protein overload. moisture overloads are easier to fix..
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! Tis definitely better to have moisture over load than protein overload!
DeleteI'm not sure how you made it to 6 months post but great job managing your textures! I've spoiled myself since cutting my hair and I just relaxed at 10 weeks post.
ReplyDeleteI love love love your "Lob" (Long-Bob) cut. Its my dream hair style!
DeleteYou dont ever want to feel over moisturized hair. It is so bad. Im also jealous of 6 months post hair, but Ill be there someday ;) One day, I need to find this biolage on sale; I used the one in the green bottle and it was ok, but you could tell it was for damaged hair and I guess it was just too much for me.
ReplyDeleteI think that Courtnea from Finally Growing spotted Biolage on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond. I haven't been in there in months, so I'm not sure but you should check there!
