Mini Wash

Spin twice a week + Spray fountain with the kiddos + Running twice a week + Biking a few miles with the hubby = not much time to play around with my hair. But just because you're busy, it doesn't mean that you have to neglect your hair. I co-washed twice last week and I've been sure to moisturize and seal daily. I did a bantu knot set, wore them out for two days then rocked curly buns. I'm only 3 weeks post, but my hair has been easy breezy lately. It feels full of moisture yet strong.

This week, I hit my hair with on overnight deep treatment with Halka Baba de Caracol and followed up with a black tea rinse just to keep my moisture/protein balance in check.
Mini Wash Products
  1. Detangled- using my Magic Star Jumbo Rake seamless comb.
  2. Extreme Deep Condition- with JBCO on my scalp and Halka Baba de Caracol on the length of my hair. Then I massaged my stands with Bee Mine Bee Loved Hair and Scalp Moisturizer, covered with a plastic cap and relaxed under my heat cap for about 2 hours. I've tried using this Bee Mine a couple of ways. I'm not sure if I'm being heavy handed or not, but it feels incredibly thick and really weighs down my hair. I thought that it would be perfect for sealing in my deep conditioner though!
  3. Tea Rinse- I rinsed the conditioner then with 2 black tea bags steeped in 2 cups of water plus a few drops of peppermint, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils, I applied my tea rinse using a narrow tip applicator. I let it sit for a few minutes and rinsed.
  4. Smoothing Treatment- Next, I applied a large dollop of Nexxus Hydralight Weightless Moisture Conditioner, massaged it in from root to tip for a minute or two then rinsed. I love Nexxus products and I was super anxious to try this one, but my hair just isn't feeling the love; I'm forcing myself to use it up so that I can make room in my stash.
  5. Air Dried- 90% with silk scarf.
  6. Leave-Ins- Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Nectar Leave In Conditioner and Koils by Nature Nourishing Hair and Body Butter (Heavenly Delight)
Results:
Top: Naked Air Dried 90%
Bottom: Lost hair
L to R- Pre-wash, Shower, Post-wash
I wish that y'all could feel my hair. It's so soft and light. I had my normal amount of lost hair; only slightly more than last week's wash with Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Conditioner. Last week, I detangled wet, I didn't notice an increase in smoothness or a decrease in tangles. Everything was the same as when I detangle dry. I think that I'm more comfortable with damp detangling, but I'm glad that I tested now at 3 weeks post instead of in a few weeks. Detangling is a different monster with more curly roots.   Last summer, I was slightly appalled by the slight of my ends, but this summer, I'm quite content. I didn't micro trim after my last relaxer, so I'll probably straighten some time soon and get my trim on. I only have about an inch of bone-straight ends left! I've been debating on whether or not I should just baby my ends and wait to trim at the end of the year or if I should just go for it now.

 A penny for your thoughts?

Besitos!

I have noticed some shedding (not too much more than normal) but I know it is the weather changes.. So I plan on going shopping this weekend to add/rotate some products! Mini Wash Day

Extreme Deep Condition Products
Notes: Even after daily drenching workouts, my hair still felt incredibly soft last week. It was almost impossible for me to keep my fingers out it my head! Honestly, I didn't even feel like it was my hair. After reviewing my post from last week, I couldn't find the magical "it" that made my hair sooooo soft. I didn't deep condition as long as I usually do, I didn't use as many tea bags in my tea rinse as I usually do, and I used all of the same products that I always do when I flat iron. The only variable was my week of moisturizing with tea. Hmm...

(0) Detangled with my Magic Star Jumbo Rake in vertical sections.
(1) Extreme Deep Condition: Applied Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner and my essential oil blend to my scalp, and Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Conditioner to the length of my hair. Then I coated my strands with Argan oil, covered with a plastic cap  and the sat under my heating cap for a couple of hours.
After adding Extreme Deep Condition Products
(2) Tea Rinse with 2 green tea bags and 2 cups of water in a narrow tip applicator bottle.
(3) Smoothing Treatment- Then I massaged Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment into my hair (without rinsing the tea first) and let sit for about 10 minutes. I rinsed with cool water.
(4) Air dry- I let my hair dry 85% in a cotton t-shirt. Next, I detangled and add my leave-ins.
(5) Leave-ins- This is week 2 of moisturizing with tea using the LOC method. LOC- Liquid, Oil, Cream simply refers to the order in which you apply your leave-in products. In sections, I detangled, sprayed my hair with green tea, applied argan oil, and then sealed with Jessicurl's Too Shea Conditioner.

Results: Moisturized, soft, big, fluffy hair plus very little shed hair. I attempted to install individual twists, then I saw my hubby's face half way through the process. He looked like he saw a ghost. I looked in the mirror---and agreed. I untwisted, bunned then called it a day! You win some and you loose some. Ha-ha!

My first impressions of Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Conditioner: Meh--I.hate.the.scent. Ugh. Again---another "natural" product with an awful scent. Its not "stinky," I just don't care for earthy, heavy, musky scents. I'm more of a citrus, flowery, sweet, light scent lover.  However, It absorbed into my hair like butter. I've never had a conditioner do this before. When I was done putting in the conditioner, I felt like all the product was gone. So weird. Its not oily and even though I would stick it with a protein conditioner label, it's well balanced. Meaning that my hair feels soft yet very strong after use. Carol's Daughter makes tons of claims about the use of this product that I'll reserve my comments on until I finish the bottle then post a complete review. But to be brief: I'm not believing in that "96% less breakage after one use?" line. Then again, I don't experience much breakage to begin with.

Anywho, I'm excited to be on week 2 of LOCing with tea. I'll continue the experiment for one more week after this one, and then I have a wedding, so I'll be straightening. Fingers crossed the same soft and silky results from last week! You guys want to help me pick a bridesmaid hairstyle?

Un mil besitos!

Wash Day

Hola Chicas!

A few tidbits: I tried something different during this wash routine with my DC regimen. I put EVOO over my treatment mask and I used a new deep conditioner (Optimum Care Salon: Deep Conditioning Masque). My hair felt coated as it dried, and I am not a fan of that. I am not sure if it was the change in conditioner or the oil. However, I will assume it is the EVOO that made my hair feel extra thick and retry the conditioning masque before saying yay or nay to it. <shrugs>

All my shedding :)
(1) Detangled with Hercules Sagemann Magic Star Comb .. I have grown to love this comb as much as KLP! me gusta!
(2) Prepoo: JBCO, My Essential Oil Mix on my scalp, and Halka Baba de Caracol on length of my hair. Placed a warm towel (wet it then heat for few secs in microwave) on my head and enclosed it in a cap!
(3) Co-washed with Creme of Nature Chamomile & Comfrey Nourishing Conditioner ( I must admit, I really like the creme of nature line! It is new and improved!)
Side View
(4) Semi-Extreme Deep Condition with Optimum Care Salon: Deep Conditioning Masque and Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Moisturing Treatment. Then coated my hair with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. (Many of my products have coconut oil in them, I am realizing so I stray away from overkilling lol so I majority of time use EVOO.. my hair also loves it!) I placed a warm towel on my head under plastic cap and sat under my hooded dryer for about 40 minutes! (Hence - semi extreme..I admit I need to strengthen that lol)
(5) Leave-ins: Aphogee with Keratin and Green Tea and a little Organix Coconut Anti-breakage Serum (Check my review!) Also placed Philip Kingsley Toner on my scalp!

Before Faux Bob
My Hair Reality: I had tried two moisturizing treatments at same time before but this time it did not turn out so great.. :( So, I am not sure if I will try again or not. On the other hand, this was my first time coating with EVOO and using Optimum Masque. Next time, I will use just the Optimum Masque and the EVOO, and see how my hair feels. After completely drying, it was soft and I did not feel that "extra coat" feelings so it could be in my head! lol I did have little shedding and my scalp still feels good! :D Wish is alwaysss a plus para mi!

Faux bob was inspired by KLP! :D

My Faux Bob

How did your wash day go? Am I the only one that can not sit under that dungeon of a dryer for long lol?
