August Wish List

  1. Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Nectar Leave In Conditioner (full size): My my my, This leave in makes me smile, ladies. It's light yet packed with moisturizing power. The scent is amazing and the 2oz sample that I received at the Black Hair Kitchen Expo lasted for a month. Thus, the 17oz full size bottle that I'm craving should last for at least 8 months. (Is my math is right y'all?--I was an English major after all! #highereducation) If it can last for that long, then maybe that $24/bottle price isn't that scary. I think...
  2. BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Straightening Iron 1-1/4": I wouldn't even bother with this one until my homeboy Bobby (aka my 4 year old Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron 1-1/4") passes on to be in heat tool heaven. The stylist for my sorority sister's wedding used this on my hair. I asked her how in the world did she get my hair so shiny and she replied that the secret was in her BaByliss iron. Enough said. I want it!
  3. The entire Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger line- I'm still smitten over this line. With promises like Repair damage caused by heat styling, chemical processing and aging with the vital protein and intense moisture of Awapuhi Wild Ginger® and a few Allure "Best Of" accolades under it's belt, this Awupuhi Line sure seems to aim to please. Swoon and drool with me at www.awapuhi.paulmitchell.com. I've wanted to try this for months, I just need to make it happen!

Birthday Buys

Last weekend, I celebrated my birthday by doing all of the things that I love: spending time with my wonderful family, cutting up with my besties, and shopping for goodies for my hair. I know---I'm a dweeb and ridiculously easily satisfied (This is a #judgementfreezone though!) Nonetheless, I had a great time. Here's few of the cool things that I picked up:

www.savingourstrands.blogspot.com
Birthday Buys
  1. Carol's Daughter Coconut Shuffle- I received this body cream free with a $25 CD purchase at my exchange. Perfect for softening rough elbows and knees after a dry winter.
  2. Carol's Daughter Hair Milk (Original) Leave-in- I fell in love with the Hair Milk Conditioner when I started using it on my little ones' hair a few months ago. I think (please tell me if I am wrong), since then that conditioner was discontinued, so I picked up the Hair Milk Original Leave-In. I hope that it works just as well.
  3. Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Conditioner- I only bought this one to get to the $25 limit and get a free gift. Ha-ha! #judgementfreezone! I've never been a big fan of CD for my own hair, but one of you could win this in our first giveaway in a few weeks. Stay tuned!
  4. Nexxus Hydra-Light Conditioner- Y'all know that I've wanted to try this since January. I just refused to pay full price though. When I saw that my commissary finally had it for less than $9 and I had a coupon for $1 off, I had to buy it and I can not wait to try it!
  5. Nexxus Hydra-Light Foaming Leave In- After Keyda's review of the conditioner and reading up on the ingredients in this leave in, I thought to myself: either Hydra Light sucks or its amazing but there is nothing in between. Let's hope for the latter!  Castor oil, glycerin and coconut oil in a conditioning foam? Is it too good to be true?  I'll see in a few weeks!
  6. I love snagging a good deal!
  7. Hair accessories- May begins our 30 in 30 series where we plan to feature a new protective style each daily. It's definitely going to be a challenge but you guys keep us honest and truly motivated. Flashy accessories make updos, braids, and twists so much more fun! The silver cuff is a pony holder. (Think Madonna 90s Blonde Ambition sky high pony.) The pink band is a jeweled headband. (Think chic boho pin up)

Keys to the Castle

Deep conditioning under the hooded dryer for at least 30 minutes is the key to my hair's happiness. My hair feels like silk when I wash it out and styling is just ridiculously much easier. The down side? Sitting under a loud hooded dryer for at least 30 minutes! Ha-ha! I usually wash wee into the morning hours whilst my little ones are dreaming peacefully and I'm terrified to hear a frantic cry of an awakened child. Just terrified. Do you know how long it takes to get a "Mommy--I'm not that sleepy anymore" child back into bed? *le sigh* I digress---Any who--back to hair. My suegra has this old school heating cap that I use whenever I need to wash my hair (or my sister-in-law's hair or my cousins' hair or my etc etc relative's hair). I always giggle when I pull it out because when I say old school--I mean OLLLDD school. This heating cap is circa 1980s. You can tell by the chica with the Farah Fawcett hair on the box.

We affectionately call it the alien hat. Here's the kicker---this thing is as old as I am and it still works! I mean it runs like a gem and it's whisper quiet. In fact, my sister-in-law usually watches a movie or does her homework while she wears it. After sitting under the dryer last week, I realized that if I didn't get a conditioning heat cap soon, that I was just asking the universe for trouble. THEN--I received a 15% off coupon to Sally's. That's when I knew that the meeting of this Gold N Hot Heat Cap and I was fate. (Y'all already know that I'm dramatic---so just roll with it!)

I can not wait until my next wash day to put this bad boy on. Hmph--and they think that diamonds are a girl's bestfriend. I'll take a wicked awesome deep conditioner and a sexy quiet as a church mouse heating cap instead!

Un mil besitos chicas!

$5 Mizani Intense Moisture & Softeness Valentine's Day Discovery

Dear God--Thank you for the world's greatest suerga. Amen.

www.savingourstrands.blogspot.com
Mizani Value Pack
I sincerely believe that my mother-in-law and I were made for each other. She supports my dreams, can talk me down from a ledge, and always knows how find the comfort in the uncomfortable. She thinks that my healthy hair journey is totally wicked. Plus, she can spot a 50% off sale from 3-4 miles away. Sometimes I wonder where she keeps her Superwoman cape hidden at? She is just that awesome. As usual, she caught the most amazing sale at her local Hair Cuttery---a Mizani value pack for just $4.99! This bundle contains Mizani's Moisturfusion Milk Bath (8.5oz), Moisturfusion Silk Cream Conditioner (8.5oz), and D'Tangle Moisturizing Leave-In Milk (8.5oz). When she called me to give the good news---I really didn't believe her. No way all three bottles were (A.) packaged together or (B.) only $5. But its true! It's true! I can't wait to give reviews on all three products!

Treat your hair to some moisture this Valentine's Day!

Wish List 2013

Hola Luvs!

KLP, your wish list mad me think...what do I want!? There are so many things lol but I can settle for these main items:

1. Like KLP, I WANT ALL OF THE PW AWUPHI GINGER LINE :D I am sooo in love with the shampoo..so I have been using it for the last month and now I am obsessed with wanting to try everything on the line...I have noticed my hair to be much softer and an increase in the ability to manage my new growth better. I shall drool and swoon with you KLP for  www.awapuhi.paulmitchell.com.

2. I definitely need the Magic Star Jumbo Rake with the way KLP and other hair dolls rave about it, I must get it! It was also sold out for almost one month! So, it must be good. With the thickness of my hair...this comb may prove to be the only thing capable to tame it! I am on my way to hotcombs.net.

3. In a previous post, I shared my hooded dryer is basically dead... :( but I am not soo dissappointed hehe :) I want to be able to sit up in my chair to read a book (Im a geek! lol) or watch some #RHOA (guilty pleasure...) and I am tired of sitting on the floor or in a awkward position for table top hooded dryer. So, after searching, I will be trying the BaByliss Pro Thermal Ionic Rollabout Dryer sold at Sally Beauty Supply. It had decent reviews from Jeni at www.justgrowalready.com ! I plan trying out, how I like the idea of a rollabout dryer (I'm sure I shall love!) then later in future upgrading!

Potential List Makers: PM Super Skinny Serum and Treatment, Heating Cap, Curling Iron...

What has made your list?

Muahz!

Wish List January 2013

Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger Line
1. The entire Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger line- I'm just smitten over this line. With promises like Repair damage caused by heat styling, chemical processing and aging with the vital protein and intense moisture of Awapuhi Wild Ginger® and a few Allure "Best Of" accolades under it's belt, this Awupuhi Line sure seems to aim to please. Swoon and drool with me at www.awapuhi.paulmitchell.com

2. Another Magic Star Jumbo Rake from HotCombs.net- after writing my beyond rave review, I realized -Ay dios! What if I did loose my comb? Would the world come to an end? Possibly. Would I curl up in my bathroom and rock back and forth teetering upon madness? Probably. Exaggeration? Not in the least. I'm very serious. Therefore, this mamí needs to make sure that she's got a back up!

3. A Heating Cap- Heated extreme deep conditions are this chica's best friend, but sitting under a hooded dryer for 1+ hours is nooo fun. My mother-in-law has a heating cap from circa at least 1982 and although I laugh like heck every time that I use it, boy--that thang works! The thought of being able to lay down while I deep condition (which is usually super duper late at night) and not wake up my family with the low roar of a hooded dryer is sexy. Yes, I just called a heating cap sexy. Don't judge me. I'm thinking about pick up this Gold N Hot model from Sally's.

What's on your January Wish List?

Un mil besitos!
