[Hairstyle] Hot Pink Chalk Curls Using Kurly Klips

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I'm usually pretty classy.

I try keep it sophisticated.

Chic is my middle name.

But today...

I just wanted to have some fun!

Say hello to my HOT PINK CHALK CURLS!

*giggles uncontrollably*

I washed and styled my hair per my usual Kurly Klip regimen. (You can find all the details here) I put my bangs into two braids, left a little hair out to cover the wefts, then installed my clip-ins. Using hair pins, I put the hair into a half up half down situation.

Then, I had an A-HA moment!

HAIR CHALK!

Remember when I chalked my relaxed hair? Here...

How To Use Hair Chalk On Relaxed Hair

How To Use Hair Chalk On Relaxed Hair

Permanent color and relaxers typically don't mix but if you're looking for a quick, easy, non-damaging way to add a little temporary pizzazz to your tresses---you've gotta try hair chalk. Here are some quick tips to using it on textured or relaxed hair:

Hair Chalk Do's:

  1. Always detangle, moisturize and seal first.
  2. Be gentle as you rub the chalk on your hair. Creamy or powdered chalks work best.
  3. Seal with a medium hold hairspray. I love a tad of Chi Enviro Flex Hold Hair Spray.

Hair Chalk Don'ts:

  1. Never apply to your roots; it will run if you sweat. Trust me on this one.
  2. Don't test drive this look while wearing an irreplaceable shirt---the chalk can be messy the first go around.
  3. Don't skip your deep conditioning treatment with your next wash.
I really thought that I would look ratchet with my bright pink pastel ombre tips---but I kinda like it! And here's how I got that cute Romantic Low Chignon.

What color should I try next?

Hair Chalk Highlights Preview

I'm test driving my golden hair chalk this week. I've never had highlights before, so it looks really foreign to me. And a quick note: do not chalk your roots. I did---then worked out and sweated gold all over the place. Smh.

So what do you think? Hit or Miss?

Healthy Hair Insight: Hair Chalk

I've been thinking about a little change of pace. I've learned to love my hair color but I'm thinking of experimenting with something a little brighter. I'm still all about healthier hair so nothing drastic or permanent or damaging is required. That doesn't leave me with many traditional options---that is until I bought this super cute hair chalk palette for under $10. I'll probably never use the uber bright colors, however, I'm thinking an auburn or blonde faux highlight would be cute on a bantu knot set. Thank you Goupon!

What do you think? Would you use hair chalk?
