Wish List 2013

Hola Luvs!

KLP, your wish list mad me think...what do I want!? There are so many things lol but I can settle for these main items:

1. Like KLP, I WANT ALL OF THE PW AWUPHI GINGER LINE :D I am sooo in love with the shampoo..so I have been using it for the last month and now I am obsessed with wanting to try everything on the line...I have noticed my hair to be much softer and an increase in the ability to manage my new growth better. I shall drool and swoon with you KLP for  www.awapuhi.paulmitchell.com.

2. I definitely need the Magic Star Jumbo Rake with the way KLP and other hair dolls rave about it, I must get it! It was also sold out for almost one month! So, it must be good. With the thickness of my hair...this comb may prove to be the only thing capable to tame it! I am on my way to hotcombs.net.

3. In a previous post, I shared my hooded dryer is basically dead... :( but I am not soo dissappointed hehe :) I want to be able to sit up in my chair to read a book (Im a geek! lol) or watch some #RHOA (guilty pleasure...) and I am tired of sitting on the floor or in a awkward position for table top hooded dryer. So, after searching, I will be trying the BaByliss Pro Thermal Ionic Rollabout Dryer sold at Sally Beauty Supply. It had decent reviews from Jeni at www.justgrowalready.com ! I plan trying out, how I like the idea of a rollabout dryer (I'm sure I shall love!) then later in future upgrading!

Potential List Makers: PM Super Skinny Serum and Treatment, Heating Cap, Curling Iron...

What has made your list?

Inspiration

Wish List January 2013

Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger Line
1. The entire Paul Mitchell Awupuhi Wild Ginger line- I'm just smitten over this line. With promises like Repair damage caused by heat styling, chemical processing and aging with the vital protein and intense moisture of Awapuhi Wild Ginger® and a few Allure "Best Of" accolades under it's belt, this Awupuhi Line sure seems to aim to please. Swoon and drool with me at www.awapuhi.paulmitchell.com

2. Another Magic Star Jumbo Rake from HotCombs.net- after writing my beyond rave review, I realized -Ay dios! What if I did loose my comb? Would the world come to an end? Possibly. Would I curl up in my bathroom and rock back and forth teetering upon madness? Probably. Exaggeration? Not in the least. I'm very serious. Therefore, this mamí needs to make sure that she's got a back up!

3. A Heating Cap- Heated extreme deep conditions are this chica's best friend, but sitting under a hooded dryer for 1+ hours is nooo fun. My mother-in-law has a heating cap from circa at least 1982 and although I laugh like heck every time that I use it, boy--that thang works! The thought of being able to lay down while I deep condition (which is usually super duper late at night) and not wake up my family with the low roar of a hooded dryer is sexy. Yes, I just called a heating cap sexy. Don't judge me. I'm thinking about pick up this Gold N Hot model from Sally's.

What's on your January Wish List?

Too Relax....Or Not...

Hola Luvs

I have been thinking about relaxing my new growth sooner than later...I have stretched for 4 months (close to five) in the previous year /s. This is good but I think to retain my length/growth (from last year epic breakage situation :( ) I should probably relax sooner than later ...until my hair is ready/able to stretch again... I am at least 7 weeks post relaxer .. So, it would be now or later...

What are your thoughts? Think I should take the plunge or hold fast?

Thoughts and comments welcomed!

Wash Day - Goal twice a week met!

Hola Luvs!!

I actually completed a second wash day for the week, last sunday (sorry late post). I plan on washing twice a week, because my hair gets dry easily in winter..ugh..so I am hoping that if I wash twice a week, that will help some until early spring! (*fingers crossed*)

(1) Detangled: I used my fingers to detangle because I do not have my awesome comb that KLP, my partner in crime raves about! It was sold out for a month so I now finally get my hands on it!

(2) Pre-poo: I put heated argan oil (first time using from KLP) on my scalp, and Emergencia Intensive Coconut conditioner on length of my hair. I think my hair has a thing for coconut hehe... I put cap on and called it a day. My hooded dryer broke :( sooo I kept cap on for about 2 hours.

(3) Shampoo: I shampoo'ed with KeraCare 1st Lather Shampoo to make sure my hair was clean then (and because KLP awesomely gave me a new bottle lol) and then with PM Awapuhi Wild Ginger Moisturizing shampoo.. LUVSSS..Product Review to come...but I want the black line lol..

**Quick Protien Treatment with Aphogee 2 Min Reconstructor**
(4) DC: I put the awesome Halka Baba de Caracol Intensive Treatment in my hair. Again, no dryer...so I watched TV/ate over course of 2 1/2 hours...with a cap on my head...

(5) Washed out DC...and sooo smooth.. I could run my fingers thru...I used a 100% cotton t-shirt to pat out excess water.. idea from the lovely gal of www.justgrowalready.com! I combed thru once with my wide tooth (for now)

(6) Leave-ins..: Sprayed Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea , then I put my love..Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, mainly in the middle/back of my area (primary breakage spots) and some Skinny girl Serum (still trying it out) plus some Chi Silk Infusion (mainly on my ends).

Air dried for a few then before completely dried, I braided my hair and pinned it up too dry completely as I slept.. In morning..va laaa!.. I took them out and it looked soo cute.. (better than my first attempt last year lol)

**I will get better at posting pics...one strand at a time :) **

Now, I will have to restructure the braidout before my next wash.. Have you done a braid out? How did you style it after a day?

Promises: Directly from the website:

The Magic Star Jumbo Rake is an "all-around" comb.  The Magic Star Jumbo Rake works like a hand to add volume, separate curls, and blend sleek straight styles. The Jumbo Rake can handle even the toughest jobs:  detangling hair, distributing your favorite conditioner, gently gliding thru wet hair, awesome shower comb.

·         Made by hand from 100% Vulcanized Natural Hard Rubber
·         Tried and tested design with perfect ergonomics
·         Twist-resistant and yet flexible
·         The teeth are hand-sewn, hand-cut, and hand-polished to perfection!
·         Non-porous (will not support the growth of mold or mildew); guaranteeing hygiene
·         Chemical and heat resistant
·         Antistatic (prevents fly-away hair)
·         Very smooth and gentle to the hair and scalp due to rounded tips and sides
·         Very good gliding ability when combing through the hair

My Thoughts:
Love. Love. Love. Period. First off, when you've never paid more than $3-4 on a comb before, that price can leave you with sticker shock. But if I ever lost this comb, I would buy another, and another, and another. (No, there is no echo here. Ha-ha! Just emphasizing how much I love this comb) In the past, I assumed that when combing your hair, inevitably there would be breakage and it was my job to keep that breakage from the comb as minimal as possible. Then I discovered this comb (shout out to Ebony and Jeni for their awesome reviews) and literally my hair has thrived. This is seamless, super gentle, and extremely sturdy. I love it. What more can I say?

What's your favorite seamless comb?

Winterizing Your Hair

HE Split End Protector & Argan Oil
Winter is definitely upon us; especially here in my part of the world. Last week, we got 4 inches of snow and the temperature has barely got above freezing. Needless to say, its cuddling weather, BUT don't forget to winterize your hair care regimen. For me, this means no wash n go's or overnight deep conditioning treatments. It's just too cold. Until spring has sprung, you'll find me moisturizing with the creamy-dreamy Herbal Essences Split End Protector and sealing with Argan oil. I've been using this duo for a little over two months now and I'm still amazing at how light, fluffy, and moisturized my hair is 5 days after I washed. The real proof will be in the spring when I see how my ends hold up.

What changes have you made to winterize your hair?

NEW! Nexxus Hydra Light Product Line

Nexxus Hydra Light Product Line

Hi guys and dolls. My name is Krystal and I'm a commercial flipper. The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem.

Last week, I was sitting minding my own business and flipping the channels during a commercial when I caught the tail end of a Nexxus spot. My eyes lit up and I tuned everything else out. I had missed all of the important details so of course my next stop was the Nexxus website. Where I discovered, to my delight, that soon (not yet ladies) they are launching the Hydra Light Styling Line complete with a shampoo, conditioner, root lifter, and leave-in conditioning foam. The products are silicone free and coconut oil is one of the top ingredients. The Hydra Light Leave-In Conditioning foam even has castor oil as the second ingredient!

I'm trying to curb my buying habit but I love anything Nexxus so you know that I will try it as soon as it's available. I mean...it's for a good cause! I can't wait to see what the price point is.

Go to the Nexxus website to check out more about the Hydra Light Product Line.

Do you think that it's worth a try?

Un mil besos

Wash Day

Notes: Protective styled and bunned all week

(0) Detangled with my Magic Star Jumbo Rake
(1) Pre-poo with Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner, my essential oil blend, Nexxus Keraphix, and Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Instant Recovery Mask. Massaged a little Argan Oil over the conditioners covered with a warm towel then plastic cap and sat under the hooded dryer for about 30 minutes.
(2) Shampooed with KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo
(3) Green Tea Rinse with 2 tea bags and 2 cups of water
(4) Smoothing Treatment- massaged Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment into my hair and let sit for about 5 minutes
(5) Extreme Deep Condition with Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm + a little more Argan Oil and then sat under the hooded dryer for an hour. I rinsed with cool water.
(6) Leave-ins- It's a 10 (without Keratin)
(7) Light blow dry- Lame--I know; shame on me. But it was 2am and the next day I hosted my little one's 1st birthday party!
(8) Flat ironed with my Sedu Accessory Comb
Final BSL with Blunt Ends!

Results: Yummy super soft shiny hair! I had minimal shedding and breakage. My hair smelt wonderful plus had great bounce. My silly (yet very sweet) girlfriends told me that I could be in a shampoo commercial when I took down my pin curls the next day. Needless to say, I was very happy with this week's wash. Plus (drum roll please....) I'm finally at BSL with blunt ends! Now comes the hard part: maintaining it. This is the third time in 2 years that I've reached BSL but the first time with thick healthy blunt ends.

How was your wash day?

Un mil besos
