Hot Holiday Hair (Week 4)

One&20 and SavingOurStrands Presents: Hot Holiday Hair (Week 4)Ready to bring the SavingOurStrands Braids & Buns Pinterest board to life? Here's our final challenge: ImShineStruck's Halo Braid. Britt over at One&20 is covering how to's, tips, and tricks for the curly natural chicas and yours truly (ME!) is representing for the relaxed&radiant tresses. I know that you have super chic looks too! Share your own hot holiday hair posts in our weekly link up below. We've even got this nifty badge for you to use and don't forget to visit with the other hairlistas in the link up.

The Halo Braid
  1. Moisturize, seal and detangle hair. (I started on previously tension dried and bantu knotted hair.)
Split your hair from ear to ear. Finger comb the front section forward covering your face.
  2. Start your flat twist, dutch braid, or two strand twist at your ear.
  3. Braid along the perimeter of your head until you get back around to your starting point.
  4. Tuck the ends behind the original braid with a bobby pin.

Tips & Tricks
  1. Need Staying Power? Use as many pins has you have to get get the shape that you want. Just be sure to hide them well.
  2. Can't braid? I did a giant flat twist instead of the double strand twist in the tutorial. It was just easier for me.
  3. No shine?  Try applying an oil or butter before styling. I use my kitchenista Tangerine Vanilla Whipped Hair Butter.
  4. Frizzy Edges? Pick up some gel or wax and apply a bit to slick your edges down. Then cover with a scarf for 5-10 minutes.
I love everything about this style and it's totally going into my weekly bun-less hairstyle rotation. Protective styling never looked so cute! What updo did you try this week? Link it up for us to see below!

Besitos!

    1. My hair rebelled against the two strand braid version! I had no choice but to twist it. LOL.

    1. HAHAHA! My roots weren't having all those braiding shenanigans when I tried to recreate this style! All you need is a minute or two + some hair pins then BOOM gorge updo! Casual enough for daily activities but fancier than a pony or bun!

  4. Super cute! I tried this style a few months back, I just did a twist instead of a braid. Loved it!
