The Bun Effect: 30 in 30 (Day 8)

Fishtail French Braid Pin Up

Quick How to:
  1. Detangle and moisturize your hair.
  2. Split from ear to ear then create a side part. Create a large fishtail french braid on each side braiding to the end of each section.
  3. Tease the crown of your hair for volume if your hair is straightened.
  4. Using small sections, create finger curls, rolling up instead of under, then use a hair pin to secure.
  5. Repeat until all of hair is pinned up.
I prefer looser free styles, so I won't typically use edge crema or hair spray, but if you want a longer lasting style grab your faves and give your hair a spritz.

  1. Oh my goodness! I am loving this style. I tried something similar yesterday but I did two twists around each side and I finger curled my hair up in the back. I may try this version today. This is SO cute!

    1. Btw I just tried it out and I'm liking it. It's not as cute as yours but still cute. I had some trouble with the fishtail braids (not quite mastered that yet) but I got it! Thanks for another easy & cute protective style. :)

    3. No I didn't post it. I wasn't as proud of it, but once I perfect the fishtail braids I will definitely post it. :)

  2. This is really cute! I'm not sure I have figured out what you mean by finger curling, is that like pin curls? I'm going to have to try this one out myself.

    1. Hey Melanie! Wrap the ends of you hair around your finger as if it were a roller, then use a pin to secure it to your head. Almost like a pin curl but you're not turning the curl on its side to secure. I hope that made sense!

    1. Your hair is definitely not too short Cinssy! I re-created this style on my cousin over the weekend who has grazing SL hair. Instead of rolling your hair under, you are rolling it over and then pinning to your head. Trust me your updo will still look full and vivacious!

      Thanks for following!
